Celebrity chef Rick Stein visits MALETS trading day

Anzac Day 25th April 2026 was a cool autumn day with fallen autumn leaves, striking colours of the diversity of deciduous trees around us. MALETS was especially busy that day, both with members and a morning of buzzing trades.

On this day, top British celebrity chef, Rick Stein, rocked up with his film crew to capture MALETS in action with Rick talking to his worldwide audience about our work. Many members turned up with specialty produce and products for the day.

Although we had kept it low key, news of the filming and visit by Rick filtered through the MaLETS grapevine. Nick sampled a few items from our members and bought a few for his cook up.

Our members were thrilled that MALETS is recognised by the BBC for an episode of Rick Stein’s popular gourmet cooking tour series. George was invited to sample a pasta dish that Rick cooked up near the Castlemaine Botanical Garden. It was a memorable day both for the ANZAC veterans and MALETS.

We don’t know yet when the episode will go to air, but stay tuned for updates.
